🌟 Embark on a Flavorful Adventure: A Step-By-Step Guide To Cupping Coffee 🌟

Welcome to the captivating world of specialty coffee, where each cup is a journey filled with complexity and delightful nuances waiting to be discovered! Have you ever wondered how to unlock the full potential of your morning brew or replicate the exquisite flavors crafted by skilled baristas? Well, wonder no more! Before our coffees make their way to your favorite cafes and homes, they undergo a meticulous evaluation process known as cupping, performed by a team of coffee aficionados.

From green coffee buyers to roasters, quality control specialists, and passionate baristas, cupping plays a crucial role in ensuring that every sip delivers an exceptional taste experience. It's a universal standardized method used to assess and score the quality of our coffees, guiding decisions from sourcing to roasting and beyond.

But here's the exciting part—you don't have to be a professional to enjoy the art of cupping! Below, we've laid out everything you need to conduct your own cupping session, right in the comfort of your home:

Supplies Needed:

- Freshly roasted coffees (20 grams of each)
- Grinder
- Scale
- Timer
- Cupping bowls (160ml-200ml capacity)
- Boil water (100°C)
- Cupping spoons
- Rinse cups
- Vessel for used grounds
- Mug or glass for spoons

Step-By-Step Instructions:

1. Prime the grinder with 2 grams of each coffee before grinding the remaining 18 grams. Grind to a coarse consistency, similar to coarse sea salt.
2. Place 9 grams of each coffee into designated cupping bowls, using two bowls per sample to ensure accuracy.
3. Boil water and allow to cold to to 93°C and pour 150 grams into each bowl.
4. Assess the aroma of the dry coffee.
5. Break the crust at 4 minutes, then remove any remaining grounds and foam.
6. Allow the coffee to cool before tasting at 13-15 minutes.
7. Take notes on aromatics, flavor, and other characteristics to expand your palate and understanding of each coffee.

Cupping is not just about tasting—it's about immersing yourself in a sensory experience, exploring the intricate flavors and aromas that each coffee has to offer. So grab your spoons and get ready to embark on a journey of discovery!
