Exequiel Lopez is a member of our farm co-op and supplies one of our premium microlot coffees, "Saber." He is the third of four children and completed his education remotely through the Honduran Institute of Education by radio. After school, he began planting coffee on 1.4 hectares of land inherited from his father, starting with 200 Typica trees. Over time, he expanded his farm, planting additional varieties like Yellow Catuai, and using profits from his early harvests to fund his education and build his house by the age of 19. At 22, Exequiel built his own wet mill and later invested in an engine pulper and more land. Despite facing significant losses due to leaf rust, he adapted by planting more resistant varieties, and today his production is around 15,000 to 19,000 kilograms. In 2018, he built a warehouse for his coffee and began the Rainforest Alliance certification process. Exequiel has been selling his coffee to the exporter for four years. He is married to Delmi Cartagena, and they have two children.
Saber coffee is a rich bodied, smooth experience for a lazy day at home. Easy to drink, the notes are subtle and simple; look out for floral and cocoa.
